Check out Hangar 18 and see this automotive engine conversion which is installed on a Cessna 172I. As of December 2001 the engine has been undergoing tests to determine proper timing, etc. and to ensure that it is not overheating. The owner is planning to get this conversion type certified for use in Cessna 172s.
