June 2003 update

The front windscreen has been cut and fitted but has not been fully attached. The GPS antenna can be seen on the top of the canopy area. A lighting and speaker console has been installed in the top of the canopy (see bottom picture). It works, too!. Custom seat belts were ordered and have been installed. The wing leveler has been installed and is working also. The wing tip strobe lights have been wired and checked out as working. The wing navigation lights work. The avionics stack works. The instrument panel lights with dimmer work. The brow lights have been installed but not checked out. The fuel control valve and control knob have been installed. The wing tanks have been successfully pressure tested. The rear enclosure of the canopy has begun. Windows will be cut in them and made from the bubble. Gull wing doors are currently being constructed. All firewall items have had mounting arrangements installed. The firewall forward has been removed again. Richard is currently working off a pre-fabric covering checklist. Completion of the canopy area is the single largest remaining task on that checklist. It has been decided to cover the aircraft without disassembling it again. So some tasks that were postponed pending wing removal now need to be addressed while the wing is installed. This includes the installation of additional inspect ports in the bottom of the wing.
